“The traditional method is needed, but it seems to be a little antagonistic with some families,” Friedrich said, referencing a Colorado State University study that looked at trials of differential response in other counties. “The families had a better experience working with the counties, they felt like they were heard, they felt like they were a part of the solution. The caseworkers had higher job satisfaction.”
