Sue Schneider is a Colorado State University extension professor and state health specialist. She has spent over 20 years researching diverse cultural approaches to health and healing, as well as their applications to individual wellbeing and community health.

Schneider’s first book, “Mexican Community Health and the Politics of Health Reform,” explored how grassroots women’s groups integrated local and global healing practices in community clinics, seeking to address gaps in Mexican health care and create new spaces for women in their communities.

Her second book, “Meeting the Moment with Kindness: How Mindfulness Can Help Us Find Calm, Stability and an Open Heart,” draws from wisdom teachings, two decades of practice and a growing field of mindfulness research to offer a pragmatic framework for living mindfully, acting wisely and meeting obstacles with curiosity and compassion.

Schneider holds a Ph.D in medical anthropology from Michigan State University. Her work as an anthropologist is complimented by her training as a certified integrative health coach and a certified mindfulness instructor.
