Karim Gharbi is a horticulture specialist with Colorado State University Extension in Denver. He is passionate about all things involving insects and horticulture. He can provide expert advice on a litany of topics including houseplants and urban pests.

A big part of his job as an extension specialist involves performing community outreach related to horticulture. This includes site visits, leading workshops, youth outreach, coordinating volunteer events and more. Gharbi focuses his efforts on communities historically neglected by government resources.

Before joining CSU Extension, he worked for a garden center, state park, landscaping company and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History.

Gharbi obtained a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Virginia Tech and received his master’s in entomology from the University of Hawai’i.
