Delphine Farmer is a professor of chemistry at Colorado State University.

Her research focuses on the air we breathe – more specifically, how it impacts human health, ecosystems and climate. Her lab utilizes both laboratory and field measurements to study chemistry in both the gas and aerosol phases across environments ranging from the Arctic tundra to our own kitchens.

One of Farmer’s studies on the impact of wildfire smoke in homes received coverage from news outlets across the world.

She received her undergraduate degree in chemistry from McGill University and received a master’s in environmental science, policy and management from the University of California Berkeley, as well as her Ph.D in chemistry from that same institution.

Farmer’s research has been published in Nature Chemistry, Environmental Science and Technology, Science Advances and more.
