Chuck Morris is the director of CSU’s music business program – a fitting role for the long-time concert promoter and prolific artist manager who first entered the industry in 1968 after dropping out of a University of Colorado Ph.D program to manage the legendary Boulder venue The Sink.

Early in his career, Morris became known for booking up-and-coming talent who would become the stars of tomorrow, including The Eagles, Bonnie Raitt, The Doobie Brothers, ZZ Top and more.

Later, he began booking large-scale concerts and events involving iconic acts like Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, U2 and Bob Seger, and later served as a manager for the likes of Lyle Lovett, Big Head Todd and the Monsters and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

Fourteen years before he joined CSU, Morris created AEG Presents Rocky Mountains, the largest concert promotion company in the state’s history. The company is responsible for putting on more than 1,100 shows per year in venues ranging from the Bluebird Theater to Red Rocks Amphitheater to the relatively new Mission Ballroom.

At CSU, Morris uses his connections in the music industry to bring in a litany of guest speakers ranging from Michael Franti to Illenium.
