Becky Takeda-Tinker to return as CSU Global President

Denver – The Board of Governors of the Colorado State University System has announced that former Colorado State University Global President Becky Takeda-Tinker will return to leading the campus she helped build into the nation’s first fully online, accredited public university.
Pamela Toney, who has served as CSU Global president since September 2020, will step down March 1. She’ll remain with the CSU System as a Special Assistant to the Chancellor dealing with transition issues through the end of August, when her current contract expires.
Board of Governors Chair Kim Jordan thanked President Toney for her leadership and noted that the online learning sector is rapidly evolving and highly competitive.
“CSU Global was created to be a leader in providing innovative learning solutions and access for people around the world who don’t have the option of earning a degree in a traditional college classroom,” Jordan said. “Over the last three years, the online market has evolved, and innovation needs to be the primary focus to retain a leadership position in such a market.”
CSU Global, founded in 2007, has 13,580 students taking classes worldwide. The campus’s mission is to advance student academic and professional success in a global society by providing access to dynamic education characterized by excellence, innovative delivery technologies, industry relevance, and strong stakeholder engagement.
Takeda-Tinker has most recently been serving as Chief Educational and Operations Innovation Officer for the CSU System. She also served as Recovery Officer with Colorado’s Departments of Labor & Employment and Higher Education, where she worked to invest post-pandemic federal and state funds for economic growth and recovery. She was the first president and CEO of CSU Global.
