Colorado State University offers new MBA program for early career professionals

The Colorado State University College of Business today unveiled its newest course of study, designed specifically for professionals at the beginning of their business careers. The Early Career MBA offers an innovative approach to learning that blends the face-to-face classroom experience with web-enabled delivery techniques.

“We have seen increasing demand for a full-time MBA program with reduced or no work experience required,” said David Gilliland, Faculty Director of Graduate Programs in the College of Business. “The Early Career MBA offers an innovative and compelling curriculum tailored for the early career learner that will be presented in a variety of traditional classroom and online learning environments. Instead of just offering our full-time MBA to less-experienced students, we are doing some special things to enhance the new career experience.”

A new course has been developed especially for the Early Career MBA to introduce students to the foundations of business and gain practical experience in the business world, according to Gilliland. In addition, internships, practicums and other opportunities will be available, as will electives focused on professional development and career management. In addition, regular MBA courses will be modified to suit the needs and perspective of students who haven’t had work experience.

CSU’s College of Business currently offers several MBAs tailored to meet the needs of working professionals, including an online MBA; an executive MBA taught at CSU’s downtown Denver Center; and a professional MBA with evening classes taught on campus in Fort Collins. In addition, the Global Social and Sustainable Enterprise MBA helps international entrepreneurs develop advanced skills to build ventures focused on the triple bottom line.

The college also provides undergraduate and graduate courses of study, including the Masters in Management Practice that provides graduating students with an additional year to hone the management skills currently in demand in the marketplace. The College of Business was recently ranked among the top 100 undergraduate business schools in the U.S. by Businessweek magazine.

The first cohort of students is expected to enroll in the two-year, 52-credit-hour, Early Career MBA program at Colorado State this fall, and grow to an enrollment of 30 in a few years.
