Top 40 Band Cobra Starship to Perform at Colorado State University Sept. 15

Colorado State University’s fall concert, Ram Jam, features the Top 40 band, Cobra Starship. The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15.

The opener for the concert showcases the local band, Breathe Carolina. Tickets are open to the CSU community and the general public, and are on sale now at the Lory Student Center iBox, CSU’s on-campus box office. General public tickets can be purchased for $22 and are $10 dollars for CSU students, faculty and staff.

Cobra Starship is an American dance-pop band that has been listed on the Top 40 charts for its songs: “You Make Me Feel,” “Good Girls Go Bad” and “Hot Mess.”

“It’s a well-priced show at a nice venue,” said Vinny Ybarra, concert coordinator for the Association for Student Activity Programming.

Based on research and surveys that ASAP sends out to CSU students, it discovered that students felt most comfortable paying $10 for a large concert.

“It’s a night out and the same price as a movie,” Ybarra explained.

A student-run organization, ASAP provides events that are both affordable and diverse for the CSU community.

Previous fall concerts at the university have typically featured hip-hop bands. This year, ASAP expects that the musical style of Cobra Starship will be more inclusive of diverse audiences, while at the same time not exclude hip-hop fans.

“CSU has never had a band with their style of music before during the fall concert, and I feel that this will be refreshing for the community,” said Lindsay Brown, a concert coordinator for ASAP.
