Colorado State’s Everitt Real Estate Center Conference asks ‘Are Governments Shrinking Their Real Estate Portfolios?’ Dec. 8

Government’s management and role in real estate ownership can deeply impact the economic outlook of a city, state or even an entire nation. In today’s challenging economic climate, state and local governments’ budgets are even more constrained, which may impact future acquisitions and dispositions of existing portfolios.

This topic will be discussed at Colorado State’s Everitt Real Estate Center conference “Government and Real Estate: Regulatory Impacts vs. Future Opportunities.” The event will be held from 8- 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 8 at North Ballroom Room of the Lory Student Center on campus. Public and private residential and commercial real estate professionals are welcome.

The keynote speaker of the event is Chris Roth, a managing director at Jones Lang LaSalle’s Americas headquarters in Chicago, is the firm’s National Project Manager for the General Services Administration’s National Broker Contracts. He directs a team of professionals in the New York, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Denver, Los Angeles and Washington DC offices in tenant representation and project management for a variety of federal agency tenants. Since April 2005 the team has secured over 1,100 leases with a contract value exceeding $5 billion; they are currently engaged on hundreds of active federal procurements nationally.

Roth will share his knowledge of the federal scene, the status of the CPRA and insights into the federal response to market conditions.

Building on that discussion, a panel of distinguished state and local representatives will delve into the local issues and impacts of federal policy while highlighting specific projects. Panelists also will discuss real estate budget issues, asset management trends, sustainability challenges and a mobile workforce.

Panelists include Bob Hunt of Jones Lang LaSalle, G.W. Emge of GSA, Mike Karbach of the State of Colorado and Michael Kirk of Larimer County.

In addition to the guest speakers and panel discussions, the Real Estate Entrepreneur of the Year award will be presented to Brinkman Partners at the event for their innovation and leadership in real estate construction and development in the Northern Colorado marketplace.

The Colorado State University Everitt Real Estate Center also is pleased to announce the co-founders of RE/MAX – Dave and Gail Liniger – as recipients of the 2011 Hall of Fame award. They will be sharing their amazing story of how they turned their business into the top selling real estate company in the world at 10 a.m. in the Lory Student Center following the EREC’s Government and Real Estate event on Dec. 8.
