Ag Day Kicks Off Home Football Season This Saturday

The Colorado State University Rams begin their home football season this Saturday, Sept. 6, at Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. when the Rams face the Sacramento State Hornets.

Prior to kickoff, some of Colorado’s best food will be available at the 27th annual Ag Day barbecue from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the south parking lot at Hughes Stadium. Beef, pork, lamb, potatoes, beans, dairy products, wheat bread, melons and apples – all grown in Colorado – will be dished out. Pepsi products and Colorado-brewed beer will help participants wash down meals. Colorado-grown flowers will be available, and a drawing from Ag Day ticket holders will take place for two round-trip tickets on Frontier Airlines. Representatives of the National Western Stock Show will be on hand. Festivities also include live music and a special appearance by "Miles," mascot of the Denver Broncos.

Tickets for Ag Day are $20. Combination barbecue and game tickets are $45. For more information, visit www.CSUAgDay.com. Tickets already ordered may be picked up in the Shepardson Building on the CSU campus or at Ag Day on Saturday. The event will likely sell-out, but if tickets are available, they can be purchased the day of the event until 12:45 p.m. at the Ag Day area at Hughes Stadium.

Ag Day honors Colorado State University’s heritage with a number of agricultural activities and displays on hand. All proceeds from Ag Day fund scholarships to students of the College of Agricultural Sciences. In each of the past two years, a dozen $2,000 scholarships were given to deserving CSU students.
