Colorado State University Establishes Another Record with Incoming Freshman Class

Colorado State University enrolled 4,392 freshmen this fall, the largest freshman class ever at the university, according to the Office of the Vice President for Enrollment and Access.

The number of in-state residents enrolling as freshmen grew 5.7 percent while out-of-state residents enrolling as freshmen grew 13.5 percent.

"We continue to be a school of choice for many Coloradans, enrolling close to 20,000 state resident students," said Tony Frank, provost and senior vice president. "State residents comprise 78 percent of the freshman class, but the excellence of our faculty and the quality of the experience at Colorado State draw students from across the country."

Overall enrollment for fall 2007 totaled 24,983 students including 20,765 undergraduates – up 1.3 percent from 24,670 in fall 2006.

"Colorado State works hard to recruit top students – we are proud of our record-breaking freshman class," said Robin Brown, vice president for Enrollment and Access. "We’re especially pleased that we continue to increase diversity enrollment."

Diversity among students increased to 12.7 percent of the student population – up from 12.2 percent a year ago.
