Futurevisions Symposium at Colorado State to Feature Talk by Google Engineering Director

Scott Green, Google’s engineering director, will be at Colorado State University on Friday, Sept. 14 to talk about using Google Earth as a visualization tool for ecologists, engineers, land use managers and natural scientists.
At 9 a.m., Green will deliver the opening session of the "FutureVisions Symposium" – an annual conference co-sponsored by the Information Science and Technology Center that aims to communicate cutting-edge and high-growth areas in information technology to campus and the community. The free conference will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Lory Student Center of the Fort Collins campus.
Other topics include high-tech growth, the future of satellite and the Internet and trends in computer security.
At 1 p.m., Jurij Paraszczak, director of IBM Research Industry Solutions, will deliver the keynote talk about the underlying technology that supports information technology and how it has led to ever-increasing sophistication of IT’s capabilities and continued innovation. The closing session at 3 p.m. will feature a virtual discussion on how real educational and commercial institutions can populate Second Life, a new virtual world.
