Mark Calendars for Â??a Grand Moment in Time’ to Celebrate 100 Years of 4-H Dedication to Colorado Youth

One hundred years of 4-H teaching youth career skills, leadership skills, sportsmanship and community service will be celebrated with "A Grand Moment In Time" at 6 p.m. Oct. 5 in Denver at the Marriott Tech Center, 4900 S. Syracuse St.

The event, sponsored by the Colorado 4-H Youth Fund Inc., which also is celebrating a 50-year anniversary, honors significant individuals, businesses and associations; recognizes families who have been involved in 4-H for generations; celebrates historical moments in 4-H history; and launches a productive future for 4-H in Colorado.

"The impacts that 4-H has made on youth, families and communities around the nation in 100 years is immeasurable," said Doug Steele, 4-H Youth Development director. "In Colorado alone, the program has touched hundreds of thousands of children throughout the years, molding youth into responsible, knowledgeable, self-empowered citizens that have gone on to become significant figures in the leadership of governments, businesses and communities."

The event will feature a live auction, which includes a narrow-gauge railroad pass into Colorado’s mountains and an elk hunting package; a silent auction of various donated timepieces including unique watches and clocks; and a banquet.
