Colorado State University Welcomes New Students at 2002 Premier

Incoming Colorado State University students will be welcomed in style on Aug. 25 at the university’s 12th annual Premier.

The Premier, beginning at 4 p.m. in Moby Arena, is designed as a fun and spirited way to welcome new students and their families to campus. The evening is the culminating event for Ram Fest Welcome Week, a recent tradition that features several days of activities for new students and their families including games, a concert, a Casino Night and a cookout.

The Premier features a convocation, during which Colorado State President Albert C. Yates, college deans, student government representatives and Ram athletes will welcome new students. The Colorado State University Marching Band, cheerleaders and Golden Poms will provide additional spirit for the event.

Since its inception in 1991, the Premier has become a fall tradition providing a welcoming environment for incoming students and their families. About 300 people attended the first Premier, and close to 3,000 students are expected to attend this year.

Ram Fest Welcome Week activities leading up to the Premier include games, comedy groups, and a celebrity appearance by Julie and Danny from "MTV’s Real World New Orleans" and a Casino Night on Aug. 23. A New Student Cookout on Aug. 25 immediately follows Premier.

The Premier is sponsored by Colorado State’s HELP/Success Center within the Division of Academic Affairs and the Division of Student Affairs.
