Raptor Open House, May 9

The Rocky Mountain Raptor Program at Colorado State University will host an open house May 9 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Visitors can tour the center and learn more about the volunteer-run program’s work with injured birds of prey and how to become involved.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet non-releasable (permanently injured) birds available for adoption through the Adopt-a-Raptor Program. Birds on display will include a bald eagle, golden eagle, peregrine falcon, ferruginous hawk, merlin, long-eared owl, saw-whet owl, red-tailed hawk, great horned owl and others.

In addition to talking with volunteers, visitors can learn more about the volunteer program, environmental education presentations, public outreach exhibits and birds of prey, the environment they share with humans and what can be done to make a difference.
