Allen Bert Christman was a Fort Collins native and CSU (then Colorado A&M) graduate, who became a cartoonist and later gave up his career as an artist to join the U.S. Navy. He joined the American Volunteer Group which would become the storied and famous “Flying Tigers”. He was shot down and killed on January 23, 1942 while flying in defense of the Burma Road.
