Westword: Colorado State University Associate Professor Emily Fischer put together a massive project called WE-CAN during the summer of 2018 that studied wildfire smoke more intensively than had ever been done before. The project went well…so well that Fischer was recently named one of “10 Scientists to Watch” by Science News , which recognizes mid-career scientists age forty and under (Fischer turned forty in October) who are making major contributions in their field.
