Wade Troxell

Troxell is an associate professor of mechanical engineering, affiliated with systems engineering, biomedical engineering, the Nancy Richardson Design Center and the master’s program in Public Policy Administration. His research interests reside in AI-based design and intelligent robotic systems, and he teaches AI and Design, design as exploration and capstone design courses.  

He is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and member of Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honor society. Troxell was a NATO post-doctoral Fellow in the department of artificial intelligence at Edinburgh University, Scotland. He earned his B.S. in engineering science, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at CSU. 

Alongside academia, Troxell served three terms as the 56th Mayor of the City of Fort Collins, the fourth largest city in Colorado and home to CSU. He received the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award recognizing Fort Collins for its unceasing drive for innovation, leadership and continuous improvement, and received the U.S. Mayors Challenge recognition with the Champion City Award from Bloomberg Philanthropies.
