Dr. Molly Gutilla is an associate professor at the Colorado School of Public Health and Colorado State University. She’s an expert in how diseases spread and how to use health data to improve the well-being of entire communities. Gutilla focuses on closing health gaps, like those that exist between rural and urban areas or among different groups. She works closely with local organizations to find solutions that come from within the community itself, making sure everyone has a fair shot at being healthy.
She earned her doctorate in epidemiology, the science of understanding patterns in health and illness, and also holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in exercise science. Beyond research, Gutilla is a dedicated educator who teaches students how to analyze health data, conduct meaningful research and lead with purpose in public health.
Her research looks at how our surroundings, like neighborhoods, air quality and access to services, shape our health. She helps turn health data into practical tools that public health teams can use to make real change. In addition to her university work, Gutilla serves in leadership roles with local health boards and state public health initiatives, all aimed at building healthier communities across Colorado and beyond.
