Kaigang Li is an associate professor in the Department of Health and Exercise Science at Colorado State University, where he serves as founding director of the Lab for Assessment and Promotion of Physical Activity and Health. He also holds an appointment as adjunct associate professor at the Colorado School of Public Health.

Li’s research focuses on health behavior and population health, with particular expertise in two areas: transportation safety and risky driving behaviors among adolescents and young adults, and the relationships among biophilia, nature exposure, health and well-being. His work integrates behavioral science, epidemiology and quantitative methods to address pressing public health challenges and inform evidence-based interventions and policies. He has authored more than 120 peer-reviewed publications, including leading journals such as the American Journal of Public Health, American Journal of Preventive Medicine, The Lancet Planetary Health and Building and Environment.

Li received his Ph.D. in health behavior from Indiana University Bloomington. He completed postdoctoral training at the University at Albany and subsequently served as a research fellow at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development at the National Institutes of Health.

His collaborative research has been supported by the NIH, including the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism and the National Institute on Aging, as well as the American Cancer Society. Li is the recipient of the Judy K. Black Early Career Research Award from the American Academy of Health Behavior and the Faculty Excellence in Student Mentoring Award from the Colorado School of Public Health.
