Parental alienation

Jennifer Harman

Harman researches intimate relationships, power dynamics and aggression, particularly in relationships that have dissolved, and parental alienation following divorce.

Harman is involved with several professional organizations, including the American Psychological Association, the Society for Personality and Social Psychology, and the Society for Behavioral Medicine. She is on the board of directors for Simply Parent, a nonprofit serving alienated parents and children.

Harman received her B.A. in psychology and women’s studies from Hunter College, CUNY, in 1996. She earned an M.A. and Ed.M. in psychological counseling from Columbia University in 1998. She then studied social psychology at the University of Connecticut, earning another M.A. in 2004 and her Ph.D. in 2005.
