James Kim is the director of choral activities in the Department of Music, Theater, and Dance. He directs the CSU Chamber Choir and his teaching focuses on conducting, choral literature, and choral techniques.
In 2011, Kim and the Department hosted the biennial national conference of the National Collegiate Chorus Organization in Fort Collins – a three-day event which featured the CSU Chamber Choir as the main choir. Kim is also the Founding Artistic Director of the Colorado Bach Ensemble.
Kim previously worked as an assistant conductor for the Opera Theater of Lucca, Italy, and as the interim artistic director for the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir.
Kim received his B.M. and M.M. from the University of Southern California and his D.M.A. from the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati.
