Debbie Fidler

Fidler researches development in children with neurogenetic disorders such as Down syndrome and Williams syndrome.

Her work focuses on describing the effects of specific genetic disorders on development, and how behavioral phenotypes indirectly predispose children to certain parent responses, family outcomes and educational needs.

Fidler has won several awards over the course of her career, including the 2009 CSU Athletic Department Waterpik Award for Excellence in Education and the 2001 Charles J. Epstein Down Syndrome Research Award from the National Down Syndrome Society.

Fidler received her B.A. in psychology from Cornell University in 1996. She then studied psychological studies in education at the University of California, Los Angeles, earning her M.S. in 1998 and her Ph.D. in 2001.
