Courtney Schultz is a professor of Natural Resource Policy in Forest and Rangeland Stewardship and serves as the director of CSU’s Climate Initiative within the President’s Office. Specializing in climate change, public lands, forests and fire, Schultz investigates topics at the nexus of science and policy.

She leads the Public Lands Policy Group, conducting research on U.S. public lands policy and governance to support collaborative landscape restoration, effective fire management and climate change adaptation. Schultz also serves as the principal investigator and team lead for the Climate Adaptation Partnership at CSU, an interdisciplinary research group working on diverse aspects of climate adaptation.

Schultz holds a Ph.D. in forestry from the University of Montana, a M.S. in conservation biology and sustainable development from the University of Maryland and a B.A. in International Relations from Stanford University.
