Get a free STEM kit and celebrate ‘Girls and Science’ at 2nd Saturday at CSU Spur

What: The Colorado State University Spur campus comes alive every 2nd Saturday of the month for a day full of free, interactive, hands-on activities for the whole family to enjoy. March’s theme is “Girls and Science,” in partnership with Girls Inc. and CBS Colorado. Stop by to explore fun activations across all three CSU Spur buildings, and pick up a free animal-themed STEM activity box, featuring science projects, profiles of local women in STEM, book recommendations and more.
When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, March 14
Where: The CSU Spur campus at 4777 National Western Drive in Denver’s National Western Center. Parking is available in the lot north of the Vida building.

List of activities: Here’s a snapshot of what visitors can expect to see and do this 2nd Saturday at Spur:
- Join the Colorado State Forest Service to learn about local trees and how they impactour lives.
- See the CBS Colorado First Alert Weather Tracker in action.
- Learn about animals and biology at the Sci on the Fly trailer.
- Get a free STEM activity box from Girls Inc. These boxes are for children six through 11 years old, with a limit of one per child and two per household.
- Meet CSU Spur’s two adorable mini horses.
- Jam out at the CSU Spur music lab, and learn about music and audio software in a pop-up recording studio.
- Play at a stream table showing the power of water and erosion.
- Watch veterinarians performing live surgery on dogs and cats in the Humane Colorado Veterinary Hospital.
- Explore virtual reality demonstrations on the Vida Building’s first floor.
- And so much more!
