Media Advisory/Photo Opportunity: CSU Snow Days, a new campus tradition, to be held Nov. 7-9

WHAT

Colorado State University is forecasting heavy snow and strong excitement for a new campus tradition this fall. The Snow Days event will highlight the outdoor industry at CSU and in Colorado.

The new event will not only bring literal piles of snow to campus for an immersive only-in-Colorado experience but also will host career and academic events to engage students in the vast professional opportunities in the industry.

WHEN/WHERE

CSU Snow Days will take place Nov. 7-9 on campus in partnership with Alterra Mountain Company, owner of the Ikon Pass and 19 year-round destinations, including Steamboat, Winter Park Resort and Arapahoe Basin in Colorado.

DETAILS

Snow Days will kick off on campus on Friday, Nov. 7, and will continue into Saturday, Nov. 8, as part of game day activities as CSU hosts UNLV at Canvas Stadium, televised on Fox Networks.

Rail Jam, part of Snow Days, began as an offering of the Associated Students of Colorado State University, CSU’s student government. During Snow Days, Rail Jam will be expanded and enhanced to include a vendor village and a large-scale rail, where students can strap on their skis and snowboards to hit the snow on campus.

“Colorado is home to some of the most passionate skiers and riders in the world, and we are thrilled to partner with Snow Days to offer Ikon Pass and the best of Colorado mountains and beyond with special offers for the upcoming winter season,” said Bob Stinchcomb, senior vice president of global sales for Alterra Mountain Company. “We look forward to reminding everyone that winter is around the corner and invite everyone to the Ikon Pass vendor village for giveaways, ski movie screenings, the Rail Jam and other weekend activities.”

Friday, Nov. 7

  • 11 a.m.-7 p.m.: Vendor Village (IM Fields 12 & 13)
  • Outdoor Recreation Industry Panels
    • 2-2:45 p.m.: Career Panel (LSC Theatre)
    • 3–4 p.m.: Executive Leadership Panel (LSC Theatre)
  • 4-7 p.m.: Visit Vendor Village
  • 6–8 p.m.: Feature film: Matchstick Productions presents, After The Snowfall
    Outdoors at Vendor Village (IM 12 & 13)

Saturday, Nov. 8

  • 3:30 p.m.: Vendor Village opens
  • 4:30-6:30 p.m.: Rail Jam competition
  • 7:30 p.m.: Ram Football kick-off vs. UNLV
