CSU Spur’s Wiz Kid is back for a second season highlighting the wonders of science

Whether she’s getting her hands dirty on a rooftop garden, conducting a chemistry experiment on her kitchen counter, or making delicious bread from scratch, Wiz Kid is enthusiastic about all things science – and she’s back for a second season filled with more adventures.
The Wiz Kid series includes free-access educational shows ranging from 15-30 minutes long that explore various hands-on science topics in ways that are fun and digestible for kids. There are now seven episodes available on CSU Spur YouTube channel. The latest episode, which dropped May 1, focuses on pollinators and includes interviews with scientists and at-home activities.
Wiz Kid is the perpetually curious educational host at Colorado State University Spur, a campus in the heart of Denver that strives to connect urban and rural communities by bringing awareness to the vital topics of food, water and health – giving the next generation a first-hand glimpse at numerous important career opportunities and acting as a catalyst for innovation in the West and beyond.
CSU Spur, and Wiz Kid in general, is an extension of Colorado State University’s land-grant mission to provide an accessible, practical education to anyone who wants it.
Wiz Kid’s first season has garnered more than 100,000 views since it first dropped on YouTube in spring 2024, removing the barriers associated with a physical visit to the CSU Spur campus while providing accessible and fun lessons from professors and experts about all things science.
In addition to the videos, the Wiz Kid team has created supplemental worksheets crafted in partnership with educators to accompany each episode, helping parents and teachers continue to teach kids about the important topics in the Wiz Kid videos, while having fun at the same time.
New episodes of the latest season will be released once every two months. The first episode, which features everything you’d ever want to know about pollinators, dropped on May 1. The next pieces in the series will focus on important topics including energy, water, the human-animal connection, music, and sustainability.
