Media tip sheet: CSU experts available to discuss a variety of holiday topics

Note to reporters: With the holiday season well underway, Colorado State University offers a variety of experts who can discuss topics ranging from the global supply chain to holiday stress.

Economics: 

Stephan Weiler, a professor of economics, can speak to the impacts of inflation on holiday shopping, the job market and how worried we should be about a looming recession. 

Dawn Thilmany, a professor of agricultural economics, can discuss how everything from the bird flu to inflation is impacting food prices during the holiday season

Giving a pet as a gift: 

Getting a puppy for Christmas sounds like a dream, but there are multiple factors to consider. Dr. Rebecca Ruch-Gallie, a veterinarian at CSU, can talk about what to consider if you’re considering gifting a furry friend for the holidays. 

High-altitude holiday baking: 

CSU Extension Specialists Marisa Bunning and Elisa Shackelton can discuss food safety as well as how to adjust your holiday baking for Colorado’s high altitude

Holiday stress: 

Stephanie Seng, the director of CSU’s Center for Family and Couple Therapy, can talk about how to handle the inevitable stress that occurs during the holiday season. 

Poinsettia care: 

Josh Craver, an assistant professor for controlled environment horticulture, can discuss how to keep your holiday poinsettias vibrant and healthy. 

Social media: 

Hamed Qahri-Saremi, an assistant professor for computer information systems in the CSU College of Business, can discuss user behavior on social media, privacy concerns and the impact of negative reviews on online shopping websites. 

Supply Chain: 

Susan Golicic, the chair of the Department of Management, can speak to supply chain trends in the apparel and auto industries, as well as the state of the global supply chain.
