USDA Undersecretary to visit Denver and sign MOA for a collaborative North American agriculture network

Denver, Colo. – United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Research, Education and Economics (REE) Under Secretary Chavonda J. Jacobs-Young will visit Colorado to sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for a new agricultural advisory network to connect Mexico, Canada, and the United States in collaborative efforts.

The new network – called NAAAN (North American Agricultural Advisory Network) – is a platform to promote and support innovation, knowledge utilization, and information sharing across rural and urban landscapes in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

The signing of the MOA between the USDA and the CSU System, as host country and host institution to the NAAAN Secretariat, will occur on Monday, September 26 at CSU Spur, 4817 National Western Dr., Denver, CO 80216.

The Undersecretary’s visit will include a campus tour including interaction with youth visiting the CSU Spur campus, a private luncheon, and the signing of the MOA. Media are invited to the tour and signing. Media assets will also be available following the event, for those unable to attend.

Schedule of events open to media:

  • 10-11:30 a.m.: CSU Spur tour for the USDA Delegation
    • 11-11:20 a.m.: Undersecretary engages with 5th graders from Swansea Elementary School
  • 1:15 p.m.: MOA signing and photographs in Terra Lobby
