Denver, Colo. – The Colorado State University System awarded its Construction Management/General Contractor (CMGC) procurement contract for the construction of its three buildings at the CSU Campus at the National Western Center, taking it one step closer to development of the north Denver site.
JE Dunn was selected for the construction of the CSU Water Building, CSU Center for Food & Agriculture, and the CSU Animal Health Complex. The procurement process was combined for the Water Building and the Center for Food & Agriculture. A separate procurement was run for the Animal Health Complex. The two procurements were run independently, but simultaneously. JE Dunn was successful in both pursuits.
JE Dunn’s diverse, experienced team’s grasp of the unique requirements of the CSU projects at the National Western Center, including experience in educational and research facilities as well as spaces for public use, contributed to the selection.
“JE Dunn brings significant experience that will directly relate to the success of the CSU projects at the National Western Center, from fostering true community partnerships, to planning and execution of some of the most complex projects in Colorado,” said Amy Parsons, executive vice chancellor of the CSU System. “They understand the value of bringing groups together to align toward a common goal.”
The company will also draw on Colorado resources for this project, ensuring that local workers, trade partners, and suppliers have every opportunity to participate.
“As a builder with strong roots in this community, these projects are particularly meaningful for us. Our JE Dunn family has a deep respect for and connection with both Colorado State University and the National Western Stock Show,” said Dustin Liljehorn, vice president of JE Dunn construction. “We couldn’t be more excited about this partnership and this opportunity to do something great with CSU and the National Western Stock Show at the National Western Center and the surrounding community.”
Previous procurements awarded for the CSU Campus at the National Western Center are for design, including The Clark Enersen Partners for the Animal Health Complex and Hord Coplan Macht and SmithGroup for the CSU Water Building. The design company for the CSU Center for Food & Agriculture has not yet been announced.
