Colorado State’s College of Business Hosts Founders of the World’s Top-Producing Real Estate Network Dec. 8

Colorado State University’s College of Business and the Everitt Real Estate Center will host Dave and Gail Liniger, co-founders of RE/MAX, at 10 a.m. on Dec. 8 in the Main Ballroom of the Lory Student Center. The Linigers will present an inspirational story of how they changed the real estate industry and how the passion and belief they had for the success of the company turned their dream into reality.

The “Above the Crowd” event featuring the Linigers is free and open to the public. Those interested in attending are encouraged to arrive early as seating is first come, first served.

RE/MAX has been the top-producing real estate network in the world for more than a decade. While the real estate industry has been hit hard by the housing bubble burst and the economic downturn, RE/MAX continues to thrive, with a new location opening every day across the globe from Africa to New Zealand.

From a single office in Denver, RE/MAX has grown into an international real estate network of franchisee-owned and -operated offices and their more than 90,000 affiliated independent sales professionals.

Dave Liniger is internationally known for his accuracy in forecasting real estate market trends, his advocacy for reform in housing policy and his support of advanced training and education for real estate professionals. He is widely credited with doing more than anyone in the industry to improve real estate agents’ potential for business success. He has been inducted into the Council of Real Estate Brokerage Managers (CRB) Hall of Leaders, the Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council (ABR) Hall of Fame, and has earned the Council of Residential Specialists (CRS) Special Achievement Award. In 2010, he was included in Bloomberg BusinessWeek’s profiles of the “50 Most Powerful People in Real Estate.”

Gail Liniger moved to Denver in 1973. She was the first employee to join RE/MAX and, in the same year, was promoted to vice president. She became executive vice president in 1978 and was elected president in 1979. In 1991, she was named chief executive officer and in April 2002 was made vice chairman of the board. In 1988, Liniger was recognized as one of the top ten U.S. women for her outstanding achievement in business, the arts and public service. In 1989, she was awarded "Entrepreneur of the Year" for the State of Colorado in the real estate and construction category by the international accounting firm Ernst & Young and Inc. Magazine. From a field of nearly 8,000 participants nationally, she was named first runner-up.

During the event, the Linigers will receive the Everitt Real Estate Center Hall of Fame Award in recognition of their substantial impact, service and achievements in the real estate industry. The first member of EREC’s Hall of Fame was inducted in 2003, and the EREC and College of Business are proud to announce the Linigers as the newest recipients of the honor.
