Colorado State University Celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month Beginning Sept. 15

Colorado State University is commemorating National Hispanic Heritage Month with a variety of on-campus and communitywide events. Activities throughout the month include the kick-off with Colorado salsa band Fleur de Cana, keynote speakers, panel discussions, movies, plays, puppet shows and the 10th annual Evening of Music and Dance on Oct. 6.

All events are free for students, faculty, staff and community members. Many events are geared for families and children as well. Activities for the month-long celebration are scheduled as followed:

“In spite of Innocence! An Extraordinary Story of Injustice, Survival, and Hope.” Juan Melendez speaks about spending 17 years and 8 months on death row for a crime he did not commit.

“El Grito: Celebrando el Orgullo Mexicano (Cry for Independence: Celebrating Mexican Pride).” Celebrate Mexico Independence Day with speakers, dancers, a band, immigrant tribute and more.
