Colorado State University Student Group Recycles for Fashion

Fashion Bailout, a spring 2009 fashion show featuring apparel created from recycled items, will be presented by Colorado State University students at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 24 at Suite 152, 23 Old Town Square No.152.  Students with designs featured in the show are members of Fashion Group International, a student-run chapter of the non-profit, professional organization.

Tickets are $8 for Colorado State University students with a valid student ID and $10 for adults, payable at the door. Ages 18 and up are welcome to attend.

The runway will feature student designs and local boutique ensembles. All student designs were created using recyclable materials. Clever art-wear and designs will inspire a little more ‘green’ in spring wardrobes.

The Fashion Bailout show is entirely produced by students who combine their efforts to produce a show that recognizes important issues effecting society.  This year, the group recognizes how the economy is impacting the fashion industry through the theme, "Fashion Bailout- Recycle the Recession."  The show also attributes CSU’s reoccurring theme of being green.

"The student designers make outfits out of anything and everything you can think of," said Ashley Fick, president of the CSU chapter of Fashion Group International. "It is also a great opportunity to support the design and merchandising students."

Colorado State University’s Fashion Group International brings together apparel design and merchandising students as well as other fashion-minded individuals for guest speakers and workshops.  The group also gives back to the Fort Collins community by volunteering and donating to charities.
