NCURA to present Vincent Bogdanski with Distinguished Service Award

The National Council of University Research Administrators has chosen Vincent "Bo" Bogdanski, assistant director of Sponsored Programs at Colorado State University, to receive its 2008 Distinguished Service Award.

The National Council of University Research Administrators, or NCURA, established the Distinguished Service Award in 2001 as a way to recognize members of NCURA who have made sustained and distinctive contributions to the organization.

Bogdanski has been a member of NCURA since 1994 and has served in many different capacities. His roles have included serving on the NCURA Board of Directors; contributing on a consistent basis as a faculty member and presenter at National, Regional and traveling conferences; and co-chairing the 2008 Pre-Award Research Administration III Conference, NCURA’s annual conference for pre-award research administrators. Additionally, Bogdanski has served as an adviser for NCURA’s Leadership Development Institute, has been an author and co-author of articles for the NCURA Magazine, and has served on the Professional Development Committee, NCURA’s standing committee responsible for all programs, activities and publications devoted to the professional development of NCURA members.

NCURA’s Executive Director Kathleen Larmett notes, "I cannot think of many individuals who have served NCURA and the research community with as much dedication as Bo Bogdanski. Bo’s volunteerism has made quite an impact on the profession. Through teaching, writing and mentoring, he has shared his expertise, unselfishly, and has helped advance the knowledge base of our next generation of research administrators."

Bogdanski will receive his award at the NCURA 50th annual meeting during a special recognition ceremony on Nov. 4, 2008, at the Hilton Washington and Towers in Washington, D.C.

Other 2008 recipients include F. John Case, University of Akron; Allen Soltow, University of Tulsa; Laura Wade, University of Houston; and Denise Wallen, University of New Mexico.

NCURA is a 7,000-member professional society dedicated to advancing the field of research administration through education and professional development programs; the sharing of knowledge and experience; and fostering a professional, collegial and respected community. The council’s annual meeting takes place Nov. 2-5, 2008. For more information, visit www.ncura.edu.
