Â??cyclone of Scienceâ?� to Blow Through Four Corners Region During Csu Science Outreach Tour

Students and teachers in the Four Corners area will experience a "Cyclone of Science" when Colorado State University’s Little Shop of Physics, in partnership with the office of Native American Student Services, visits their schools March 17-20.

Little Shop of Physics is a scientific outreach program which brings a host of experiments — designed by CSU students explaining principals of science — to more than 15,000 K-12 students at more than 50 schools each year. It aims to excite young students about science end educating teachers about how to incorporate common household items into science lessons.

"Cyclone of Science" is Little Shop’s theme for the 2007-2008 academic year and features experiments based on principles of atmospheric science.

Little Shop of Physics will begin the week at Shiprock, N.M., setting up shop at Eva B. Stokely Elementary School in on March 17 and 18, while presenting programs to Stokely and Shiprock High School students. The program then moves to Tse’Bit’Ai Middle School, also in Shiprock, on March 19 for Tse’Bit’Ai’ and Nizhoni Elementary School students.  The Four Corners tour ends in Cortez, Colo., on March 20 with a stop at Mesa Elementary School, followed by a community evening that is open to the public in Towaoc.

CSU students on this Little Shop of Physics / Native American Student Services trip during their spring break from classes will be joined by alumni from the area, who will don the Little Shop’s trademark tie-dye shirts for the occasion.
