Â??visual Verseâ? Art Exhibition Opens in Colorado State’s Curfman Gallery
Colorado State University’s Curfman Gallery hosts "Visual Verse: Collaborations in Poetry and Cloth." The gallery opening reception is from 4-6 p.m., Jan. 25 and collaborators Karin Carter and Monique van den Berg will discuss their involvement in the Visual Verse collaboration during a gallery talk at 5 p.m.
The exhibit will be on display in the Curfman Gallery from Jan. 25 – March 7, 2008.
The Curfman Gallery is the last stop for this traveling exhibition put on by the Contemporary Quilt Art Association in late 2003. The year-long collaboration between textile artists and poets resulted in an exhibition of 25 quilts and sculptures with accompanying poems. The exhibit was juried by internationally known fibers artist Michael James and acclaimed poet Hilda Raz. The exhibit features works by a number of nationally and internationally known quilt artists and poets.
The gallery talk was made possible by the collaborative efforts of the Lory Student Center Arts Program, CSU fibers department, Student Organization for the Visual Arts and funding from the Associated Students of Colorado State University.
The Curfman Gallery is located on the south end of the main level of the Lory Student Center. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.; Friday from 9 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.; and Saturday from noon – 4 p.m. The Gallery is closed on Sundays.
This event is free and open to the public.
