Rocky Mountain Conference on Aging to Focus on Workplace Issues
The 2007 Rocky Mountain Conference on Aging presents "Aging in the Workplace: Maximizing a Valuable Human Resource" Oct. 24-25 at The Ranch in Loveland.
The conference, hosted by Colorado State University Extension, is geared toward human resource professionals, employers, managers, volunteer agency directors, educators, employment trainers, public policy makers, and decision makers in non-profit or government organizations who will face the challenges of the aging workforce.
Participants will learn about trends in the multigenerational workplace. Topics of the conference include:
– The benefits of a national workforce where more than one-third of employees are 55 and older.
– How to maximize older employees as a valuable resource for businesses or organizations.
– How to attract or retain experienced workers while integrating their needs into company policies and multigenerational work environments.
The keynote speaker is Neil Charness from Florida State University, who will discuss "Preparing for a Diverse Older Workforce: Changing Environments and Changing Workers." The luncheon presenter on Oct. 24 will be Emily Allen, AARP senior adviser, speaking on "What Boomers Will Mean to Business and Industry."
Thursday’s general session opening is Ava Diamond from the Diamond Success Group on "Zapping the Generation Gap: Managing a Multigenerational Workplace." The capstone will be given by Harvey Sterns from the University of Akron on "Life-Span Development and the World of Work."
