Photo Opportunity: Â??hero Packsâ? to be Prepared at 4-H Youth Conference

WHAT: Participants of the Colorado 4-H Youth State Conference will prepare "hero pack" knapsacks for children of military families whose family member are currently deployed. The knapsacks contain a variety of items intended to provide children with fun activities and ways to stay connected to their deployed parents, such as note cards and disposable cameras.  In addition, information is provided to parents/guardians regarding local support programs for children and families.

As the packs are put together, each participant will be asked to write a letter to the families thanking them for the sacrifices that they have made to our country. Once the hero packs have been completed, each Colorado county 4-H Youth program will be taking one home to give to a family in their community who has had a parent deployed.

WHEN/WHERE: 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20 in the Lory Student Center middle ballroom on the main campus of Colorado State University in Fort Collins.

DETAILS: The "hero pack" project is sponsored Operation Military Kids, a 4-H program. Colorado’s 4-H Youth Programs are operated by Colorado State University Extension.
