Landscape Management Exhibit by Colorado State University Cooperative Extension on Display at Garden and Home Show
The Colorado State University Cooperative Extension program will unveil this year’s garden exhibit, "Landscape …You Can Manage It!" at the 48th annual Colorado Garden and Home Show.
This year’s Colorado State University garden, the recipient of the show’s President’s Award for most educational garden in 2006, was created to help educate gardeners about the best landscape management practices for deciduous ornamental trees, turf, fruits and herbaceous perennials. Colorado State Cooperative Extension, Denver Water and Green Industries of Colorado helped to design the garden.
"Landscape …You Can Manage It!" specifically addresses how to prune ornamental trees, how to train and care for grapes to produce more fruit, ways to plant different strawberries and techniques for rejuvenating shrubs.
Also available at the garden this year is a special Plant Select display. Plant Select is a program designed to seek out and distribute the best plants for gardens from the high plains to the intermountain region.
Attendees can find information on a new Colorado State program called CSU Lawncheck which allows horticulturalists to examine home lawns and provide written reports with recommendations for best practices for specific conditions. Colorado Master Gardener volunteers will be at the show to answer questions on a variety of horticulture topics and give out free fact sheets written by Colorado State University Cooperative Extension specialists and agents.
The Colorado Garden and Home Show opens at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, and runs through Sunday, Feb. 11 at the Colorado Convention Center, 700 14th St. in Denver. General admission is $12, and senior tickets at the door are $10. Discount tickets for $10 can be found at all Ticket West outlets in King Soopers stores. Kids under 12 are free.
