Colorado State University Announces New Alumni Association Board Members

Colorado State University’s Alumni Association has appointed several new board members.

The new board members are Jody Johnson Buck, a 1986 Colorado State graduate; Katie Denman, former president of the Associated Students of Colorado State University and a 2005 graduate; Sally Edwards, a two-time alumna with degrees from the university awarded in 1975 and 1991; and Mark Swanson, who earned two Colorado State degrees in 1986 and 2004.

Buck, whose degree is in English education, lives in Wray, where she and her husband own a cattle ranch. Buck is a member of the university’s 1870 Club and Ram Club. She is a fourth-generation graduate of Colorado State. As a student, she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority, the SPURS National Honor Society, Order of Omega and was a Golden Ram.

Buck’s current and past community involvement include serving on the board of her church, the Wray Community District Hospital Board, Wray Community Child Care Center board, PEO, chairing the Wray Rehabilitation Activities Center Endowment Fund, high school and middle school accountability committees and on the county’s Republicans central committee.

In addition to serving as ASCSU president while a student at the university, Denman was a Colorado State Honors Program participant, represented students on the university’s tenure accreditation committee, was involved in numerous student activities including planning Trick-or-Treat festivities at the student center for local children, Cans Around the Oval, CSUnity and president of Corbett Hall student government. She also co-created RamRide, a service for students that provides safe rides home to students on weekend evenings.

Denman, who received a degree in business administration, is a business consultant for Hitachi Consulting in Denver. She is active in the Denver RAM Network.

Edwards, who lives in Fort Collins, received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in forest management from the university. She became the first female forester district ranger in Colorado after graduating from Colorado State. She founded her own company, S. Edwards Inc. Her business provides project management services and consultation on land use and natural resource regulatory compliance for a wide variety of clients including the electric utility industry, mining businesses, natural gas industry and the forest product industry.

Swanson, who has a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business and an executive MBA from Colorado State, served on numerous committees while obtaining his masters including chairing the executive MBA graduation committee and on the university’s International Alumni and Pride and Traditions committees. As an undergraduate, Swanson was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity.

Swanson is the director of information technology and systems at Swift and Company in Greeley where he oversees the development and applications of technology, strategic planning and employee development.

The 24-member board of directors for the association provides guidance to the branch of the university and represents the Alumni Association at events throughout the nation and state.
