Moreng Honored for Distinguished Service to Cooperative Extension

Nathan Moreng, Colorado State University Cooperative Extension regional director of Western county offices, received an award today for distinguished service to the organization. Moreng was recognized with the Distinguished Service Award at the organization’s annual awards ceremony on Dec. 9.

The award is given each year by the Cooperative Extension professional fraternity, Epsilon Sigma Phi, to recognize a Cooperative Extension professional in the state who shows continuing leadership and excellence in planning, delivering and evaluating Cooperative Extension involvement and education in their community. The award is given to an employee with more than 20 years of service to the organization.

Moreng has served on numerous committees and task forces during his tenure with Cooperative Extension, including two task forces to reorganize Cooperative Extension’s priorities and working structure, and a task force to enhance diversity. He is currently chairing the organization’s task force to implement fees for service to counterbalance deep cuts to the state government’s support of Cooperative Extension’s budget.

Moreng has been honored with the National Association of County Agricultural Agents Distinguished Service Award and the Colorado County Agents Association Distinguished Service Award.

Moreng has worked in Cooperative Extension for 24 years, most recently for 15 years in Colorado. He began his career with the University of Idaho as a Cooperative Extension specialist.
