Media Advisory: Colorado State Welcomes New Students with Â??ram Welcome’

Colorado State University Welcomes New Students with ‘Ram Welcome,’ including Ice Cream with the President, a Carnival and a 3,000-Student Human ‘CSU.’

WHAT:

Ram Welcome is a new program to help first-year students successfully transition into life at Colorado State University by exploring academic programs, meeting faculty, learning about the many support services available and having fun. Ram Welcome is designed to help new students become a part of the campus community, learn important traditions and discover what it means to be a CSU Ram.

WHEN/WHERE:

Ram Welcome begins at 8 a.m. Aug. 19 with the Residence Hall Move-In and concludes on the afternoon of Aug. 22 with an optional Challenge Course and a RamServe meeting for students interested in becoming active in service to the community.

Thursday, Aug. 19

– 4-5 p.m. – Ice cream with President Larry Penley

Lory Student Center, West Ballroom

Families are welcome to meet President Penley for a casual ice cream social.

– 6-10 p.m. – Ram Welcome Carnival

Lory Student Center, West Lawn

Food, games, prizes and music for new students and their families.

Friday, Aug. 20

– 7 p.m.-1 a.m. – Late Night in the Lory Student Center

A fall welcome tradition featuring casino night, live music, laser tag, cultural dance performances, karaoke, computer games, crafts and more.

Saturday, Aug. 21

-10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. – PlayFair

Corner of Plum and Meridian

In addition to a variety of activities, the entire first-year class will participate in a record-setting event – spelling out a human, 3,000-person "CSU."

-1:30-3 p.m. – CSU Welcome

President Larry Penley will greet new students and Associated Students of Colorado State University (student government) leaders will talk about the importance of tradition and getting involved on campus.
