Colorado State University Sponsors August Dry Bean Field Days

Producers will have the opportunity to get up-to-date on dry bean developments during the Colorado Dry Bean Field Days, Aug. 21-22.

The field days include tours of research plots and fields with the newest varieties and information on the agronomic, disease and pest control practice developments. Cooperative Extension experts will discuss breeding, pathology, weed science and agronomy.

The program will start at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21 at the Ryan Weaver farm southeast of Burlington, followed by a tour northeast of Crook on the Bob Duncan farm. The second day of the program will be held in Fort Collins beginning at 10 a.m. at the Colorado State University Agricultural Research, Development and Education Center. Lunch will be provided the on Aug. 22 by the Colorado Bean Network.

The field days are sponsored by Colorado State University Cooperative Extension, Colorado State Experiment Station and the Colorado Dry Bean Administrative Committee through market order check-off funds.

For more information about the field day leg in Burlington, call Ron Meyer at 719 346 5571. From Burlington, the Weaver farm plot is 10 miles south on Highway 385 to County Road K, 7 and one-quarter miles east on the south side of the road.

For more information about the activities at the Duncan farm, contact Bruce Bosley at 970-522-3200. From Proctor, the Duncan farm is 3 miles east on Highway 138, three miles north on County Road 71, 1 mile east on road 60. The plots are on the south side of the road.
